Our virtual house parties are an opportunity for you and your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, or anyone else you’d like to invite to get to know Kendra, ask about the issues that are important to you, and raise funds to make sure we send her to City Hall! It’s simple - pick a date, pick an issue area or theme, invite your guests, tell them about her campaign and why her agenda is important to you, and get them to sign up to be a supporter.

These events are important. people are more likely to vote when they hear about the issues from someone they trust. Plus, the event gives guests the opportunity to pave the way for true progressive representation at City Hall.

Economic Justice Policy Town Hall

Our economic model isn’t working. An economy that’s anchored in systemic racism, the privatization of resources, and worker exploitation will never guarantee that all people have what they need. The best way to create a safe, enjoyable city to live in is to ensure all people have access to the resources they need to live with dignity. In a city where the net worth for African-American families is $8 versus $247,000 for white households, it’s even more imperative to change the way we think about our economy. The COVID-19 pandemic has made this reality visible by wreaking havoc on workers and small businesses all across the district, but we can build a solidarity economy. With the proper leadership, we can rearrange our values and put people over profit, protect workers, democratize workplaces, and guarantee sustainable livelihoods so families can thrive rather than just survive paycheck to paycheck. Arts & Culture Policy Town Hall

Art is both culture and a tool for democracy. We are not appropriately investing in our artists or our cultural districts’ sustainability, nor are we integrating the arts into our democratic process. When we do, it’s often at the expense or exclusion of our most vulnerable communities. The COVID-19 pandemic has made these realities even more evident. One clear example of this is the shuttering of some of our most beloved venues without a citywide discussion on how to replace these cherished spaces of creativity and connection. The arts are essential to a free and democratic society, a culture of coexistence, and strong local economies. Part of what makes our district so unique is our connection to one another through arts and cultural events. As an artist, I will ensure that our city supports creating cultural districts and integrating creative interventions into some of our most pressing issues. Want to learn more? Education Justice Policy Town Hall

We don’t have an opportunity gap; we have an education debt. Since this country’s founding, Black, brown, and Indigenous students haven’t had access to an equitable education. For generations, Boston Public Schools have been segregated, under-resourced, and under leadership that is not representative of the communities, it serves. For that, we owe our children an outstanding debt. All students are enriched by learning spaces that are racially and socioeconomically diverse, resource-rich, and centered on the needs of students, families, and educators. As your city councilor, I will fight on behalf of all students, families, and educators to make schools more just, joyful, and connected. Want to learn more? Small Business Listening Session

Small Business Listening Session

Small Businesses are the heartbeat of our neighborhoods. They bolster our local economy, create jobs for our community, serve as spaces for gathering, and create a pathway out of poverty for many families. In greater Boston, small businesses lost an estimated 74.9 percent of their revenue, nearly double the national average. If we want to build a just economic recovery plan for our city, we must engage all our stakeholders. And because I recognize the importance of a financially healthy, sustainable, and engaged small business community, I want to hear from you.

Join City Council candidate Kendra Hicks and small business owners from all across District 6 for a listening session on the impact of COVID-19 on your business and what your local government can do to support you during and after the pandemic.

DJ’S, Drinks, and Drag: A New Year’s Eve Fundraiser for City Council Candidate Kendra Hicks

It’s been quite the year!

Our city has been turned on its head by this pandemic and political instability. Still, we came together in the face of many unspeakable losses. We made our neighbors’ well-being everyone’s business by building intricate networks of mutual aid. We came together to affirm that Black Lives Matter amid a global uprising. We stretched our budgets, we redistributed our stimulus checks, and we made sure to #buylocal. We phone banked, texted, and made calls to swing states all across the country to end the four-year reign of a bigoted president and launched our campaign for Boston City Council.

We have had a year of showing up and doing the work, and our resiliency calls for a celebration! I hope you’ll join me on December 31st for a virtual New Year’s Eve celebration filled with community, music, and dancing. Contribute any amount to our campaign (our most common donation is $25!) and RSVP now.
